Easter egg coloring, chocolate bunnies and marshmallow goodies shaped like chicks or ducks will have your little one in full of excitement this Spring. Add to their anticipation of the Easter bunny’s visit and your quality time together by creating Easter bunny crafts. Here is an easy and fun Easter bunny craft idea your toddler will love.
Easy Cotton Tailed Easter Bunny
You’ll need white, brown or grey construction paper for the bunny and its basket. You’ll also want to have various other colors of construction paper for eggs, cotton balls, glue, markers or crayons and scissors for this craft. You’ll first need to find a template of an Easter bunny that you like. You can search the Internet for “Easter bunny templates” or trace your favorite rabbit from a book you already own.
Once you find the Easter bunny you’d like to use, you’ll need to draw the template onto your choice of white, brown or grey construction paper. Next, use toddler safe scissors (alternatively you can do this step before the crafting session begins) to cut the template out of the construction paper.
Now it’s time to let your little one work their magic. Using crayons, markers or colored pencils draw the bunny’s eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Don’t forget to add a few whiskers to your bunny face as well. If you want to make the inside of the bunny’s ears pink, cut two pieces of pink construction paper a bit smaller than the actual ears already on the bunny. Add some glue to the back of the pink construction paper ears and place inside the outlined ears.
Once you’re bunny has a face, it’s time to give it the notorious cotton tail. This is the part your toddler will probably like the most. There’s just something about cotton balls and glue that makes almost any young kid happy! Place a dab or two of glue on the back of the cotton balls and stick to the bunny to make its tail. Want an extra fluffy tail? Glue cotton balls on top of cotton balls until you get the fluffiness desired.
No Easter bunny is complete without his basket filled with goodies. Draw a basket onto the brown construction paper and cut out. Let your little one decorate the basket. They can use crayons, glitter glue, or even small beads or sequins glued to the basket. Give them plenty of items to choose from and allow their imagination to take over. You’ll need to help with any gluing that needs to be done, but other than that let them have the say when it comes to decorating their Easter bunny basket.
While your little one is decorating their basket or once he or she is finished depending on how much you help, it’s time to create small egg shapes from the various colored construction paper. Once the basket is done, it’s time to fill it with the eggs. Using glue, add eggs to the basket so it looks like they are sitting in the basket.
Allow the Easter bunny to dry and then display it proudly on the refrigerator or your child’s bedroom door. Your toddler will love their creation and you can be happy knowing they had fun and you did too!
