Recruit

Recruit: This is the person that signs up under you. Otherwise termed your downline. You will usually make a percentage of sales from these recruits.

Recruiter

Recruiter: The person you sign up under when you become a direct sales business owner. This person is your team leader or upline. They normally make a commission percentage off of the sales you make.

Objection

Objection: The reason someone may refuse to buy your products or services. Remember that they are saying no to your business and not to you. Not taking it personal will go a long way to making the sale on the next person.

Networking

Networking: Getting to know others. You interact with other business owners, directors, potential customers and current customers. Setting yourself up as an expert in your field is your goal. Then people will remember to come to you with questions or if they need to purchase something that is in your field.

National Sales Director

National Sales Director: A sales director who has achieved the highest level of sales and recruits in the company throughout the nation.

Manager

Manager: A consultant that has a specified number of recruits in their downline. Each company has it set up differently. Becoming a manager means that you are willing to help those in your downline with their sales and recruiting. Marketing

Marketing: The way you present your products to the buyer. Marketing tends to go hand in hand with advertising. There are many, many ways to advertise. Paid advertising on sites or in papers and magazines, on forums in your signature and blogs are some very common ways.

Inventory

Inventory: Having products or goods on-hand, ready to sell. Some will refer to this as cash-n-carry because your customers leave with the products in their hands.

Hostess

Host/Hostess: The person holding the show, class, party or meeting in their home. Usually, the hostess will receive free or discounted items for reaching a certain number of sales and/or recruits at their show. Also typically getting extra incentives for their friends that commit to have a show or party.

Distribution Center

Distribution Center: A building located closer to an area, region or district that houses products and makes shipping less costly and timelier. Also referred to as a DC.
